National Women's Networking Group was formed in 1981 by a small group of senior women working in London. They wanted to find a way in which women at their level, often lacking peers in their own companies, could share interests and discuss mutual problems. They felt they needed both a formal organisation as well as the informality that such an organisation would create, allowing them to build up contacts with women from across the whole work spectrum. Since its inception, Network has built up a thriving national membership with branches throughout the UK.
